Nonprofit organization Turning the Page exists to get the community, especially its parents, engaged in children’s learning experiences. The organization brings special events to schools that invite parents and grandparents to come and read alongside their little ones, taking on a more active role in their education. So it’s a fitting beneficiary for the 2022 Capital Book Fest, which is all about literature!
The next installment of this monthly pop-up book market is slated for Thursday, September 15th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The recurring festival brings thousands of gently used books and other items to Woodrow Wilson Plaza, located just beyond the doors of the Ronald Reagan Building and the International Trade Center. Local bookstore Carpe Librum supplies not only the books, but also a large inventory of CDs, DVDs, and vinyl, all in great condition. The outdoor book-a-palooza returns to the plaza monthly through November, so if you can’t make it to September’s session, check it out on October 20th or November 17th instead. By then, you might be able to find a few holiday gifts!
